SPR # HEM4H9E49Fixed in 5.0.3 release

Product Area: Server Technical Area: Server - Events - Stats Platform: Win NT

SPR# HEM4H9E49 - Fixed a problem where "Show Stat" output was truncated and the statistics documents did not contain all fields.
Technote Number: 1094771

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus software Quality Engineering and has been
addressed in Domino 5.0.3 and in 5.0.5.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.5 QMR fix list:

Server - Events - Stats
SPR# GCAR4G7MQX - Fixed a problem in STATREP5.NTF where views did not show all
available fields due to a memory constraint on large servers with many
statistics being tracked. This was a regression introduced in 5.0.2c.

Supporting Information:

This problem can manifest itself in a variety of ways. Sometimes no statistic
documents are collected, sometimes just a few servers fail to collect
documents, and sometimes the statistic documents just taper off gradually, with
one server stopping collection, then another, etc. In other instances,
documents continue to display for every server; however, the documents are
missing fields and can appear as Not Categorized in the STATREP views.

All these symptoms are characteristic of UNK table limits in 4.6x and in early
versions of 5.x. From the document titled "Definition of UNK and 'Database Has
too Many Unique Field Names' Message" (#:1100238), here is a description of the
limits in 4.6x:

The UNK Table is derived from a list of the unique field names in a database.
This list contains the field names, data type and other related information.
Because the length of field names vary, it is not possible to pin down an exact
number of fields that a database can contain before maxing out the UNK limit.
On average, most databases can store around *3,000 field names before hitting
the limit.

The same document describes the changes that were in place beginning with
Domino 5.0:

In R4, the UNK table size is directly affected by the length of individual
field names. This is conservatively estimated at 3,000 fields averaging 10
characters in size. In R5, this limit has been increased to 22,893 fields
(approximately 7 times the number of entries available in R4). There is an
option available in R5 that allows additional fields to exist in an R5
database. However, there are some caveats. First we will cover how to enable
this option, and then discuss caveats.

NOTE: The R5 documentation incorrectly cites the limit at 64,000 fields rather
than 22,893. This has been corrected in the documentation in Notes Domino 6.0
and 6.5.
